Practices & Materials
Ladybones is dedicated to a cleaner and safer process when it comes to jewelry making. No harsh chemicals are used, meaning there are no toxic substances being poured down drains and into the land. Along with using vintage and second hand materials, recycled metals are used whenever possible and gemstones are always purchased from resellers who support ethical sourcing. Ladybones strives to have an inclusive pricing model, making handcrafted wearables obtainable by a wider range of people.
“Creating jewelry brings me immense joy because it allows me to immerse myself in the tiny details that make each piece unique. The process is meditative, and the finished pieces reflect my passion for creativity, craftsmanship, and the beauty found in every small moment.”
Kristy Albano
Jewelry Artist/ Creator of Ladybones
I work with metal, stone, and vintage glass. Sterling silver is my metal of choice, it’s both beautiful and utilitarian, offering strength and elegance in equal measure. I am particularly drawn to vintage glass, which captures light in such a mesmerizing way. The fact that it has already lived a life before it reaches my bench adds layers of meaning, and I love that it will continue its journey on the wearer's hand.
My inspiration is rooted in the playfulness of light and the allure of negative space. I am enthralled with the movement of light and how emptiness can be just as significant as presence. Before beginning a new piece or collection, I clear my mind and set my intention, creating a plan while allowing space for evolution. I embrace the unexpected and find joy in the way a design may shift as I work, often falling in love with an unanticipated change in form.
